I’m talking about Ruth Flowers – and she is (according to her own website) “a fucking great DJ and she’s gonna kick your ass!”
Well, there’s tons of great DJ’s out there, so what is it that makes Ruth Flowers so special?
She’s a 69 year old grandmother who rocks the hottest clubs, she has her own website (plus ofc a presence on Facebook, MySpace, Youtube and Twitter) and goes by the name of Mamy Rock when she’s out on a gig.
It’s not like Ruth always had a dream of becoming a DJ, but she became inspired by the atmosphere in a club where her grandson celebrated a birthday party – and then she went for it.
Ruth is by no means a typical DJ, she’s not even a typical clubber, and yet she pursued her newfound dream of becoming a DJ.
And if Ruth at the age of 69 can make it in the most unlikely career, then imagine what you can do with your life.
No need to wait until you’re 69, no need to find something unusual as DJ’ing was for Ruth.
If you have a dream, then work to make it happen.
Don’t be put off by anybody telling you that you’re too young or too old to do something.
Don’t be put off by anybody telling you that you’re not “typical” for the job – infact they actually right, you’re not “typical”, you’re special, unique a one-of-a-kind that your chosen industry have never seen before yet.
If you have a dream, no matter how unlikely a dream, isn’t it about time you started pursuing that dream?
