“Researchers from the Monell Center in Philadelphia report that obese people who drank a fructose-sweetened beverage with a meal had triglyceride levels almost 200 per cent higher than obese people who drank a glucose-sweetened beverage with a meal.”
Scary stuff there – and the team from Monell Center are not the only team researching the influence Fructose has on triglycerides – I’ve linked the article that first brougt my attention to this as well as 2 PubMed references to the study referenced in the article as well as another study on the same subject.
“Increased consumption of fructose-sweetened beverages along with increased prevalence of obesity, metabolic syndrome, and type 2 diabetes underscore the importance of investigating the metabolic consequences of fructose consumption in carefully controlled experiments.”
I can’t find any references to how much Fructose was consumed in these experiments, but maybe Apple Juice, Beet Juice and Carrot Juice which are all fruits and vegetables high in Fructose are not the most optimal thing to have with your meals.
